festimage.jpgThe 2008 edition of Festimage – International Image Festival will begin on 14 April; it is as of this date that contestants may send in their entries, with the contest lasting until 20 May. This year, the festival will include two competitions – with the Official Prize and the People’s Choice Prize up for grabs. The former, which will include 9.750,00 euros in prize money to be distributed among the top five winners, shall be voted on by an international panel. The latter, which will award 1.000,00 euros to the winner, is to be voted on by the public, via the organizers’ website (www.festimage.org).

The 50 finalist works for the Official Prize and the winner of the People’s Choice Prize shall then be put on display at the Cinema-Theater Gallery, in Chaves, Portugal, from 8 to 31 July.
Some of those works simultaneously shall be enlarged to bigger formats and posted in some of the streets and squares in the city of Chaves.

In parallel, all works accepted into the contest shall be projected at night, on two giant screens set up in the most crowded areas of the city, from 8 July until the end of August.

Festimage, which is being promoted by the municipality of Chaves, Portugal, is to be held entirely over the Internet and is open to photographers and authors of digital art from all over the world.
